Video: TMC Bristol Showcase Beautiful Banana Eel

Unless it’s already been snapped-up, this stunning yellow morph Gymnothorax miliaris (Banana or Goldentail Eel) could be the perfect showpiece for your specially designed system. Similar in appearance to the coveted Gymnothorax melatremus (Golden Dwarf Moray), G. miliaris is a benthic, solitary species which inhabits Atlantic coral reefs and rocky shorelines usually at depths of up to 60 metres. This species typically grows to around 40cm but may attain 70cm. It is generally regarded as one of the most peaceful of ornamental eels but still poses a small risk to crustaceans and small fishes… and any system housing an eel requires a tight fitting cover of course.
