An initiative conceived by Coral Spawning Lab Conservation Fund, Running4Reefs aims to support coral reef restoration through physical activity. The team is co-ordinating a team of runners (and cyclists, rowers, etc) around the world to help fundraise and get coral spawning techniques into Mauritius to support reef restoration efforts with New Reef Mauritius. The idea is to raise as much money as possible to send a coral spawning/embryo rearing system to New Reef, and this system will produce genetically diverse corals during reproductive events for the purpose of transplanting onto the reef and restoring a damaged section at a time.
