Wrasses

The Labridae family is large and diverse, containing over 600 species spread across 81 genera. These genera are divided into 9 subgroups or tribes (although I haven’t done this here as yet). The Parrotfishes of the Scaridae are presented in some literature as a family alongside the Labridae, while in other cases, as a subfamily within the Labridae. For simplicity, I have included the Scarus genus with the other wrasse genera below as this is the only Parrotfish genus encountered by hobbyists.

Due to the high diversity of this family, each genus has it’s own sub-gallery that you can access by clicking or touching a thumbnail image for more detail.
