Native to the Indian and Pacific oceans, Coradion species butterflyfishes are sometimes colloquially known as “coralfishes”. With just 3 species, this is a small genus and they are quite unusual in the trade. Although stunning, they can be tricky to keep alive in captivity for long periods due to finicky feeding habits and susceptibility to collection damage, diseases, parasites and malnutrition. They are also not regarded to be completely reef-safe and may pick at sessile invertebrates. Click or touch a thumbnail image for species level information.
